our Purpose
The RLHS English Department is responsible for teaching students how to read and write effectively, as well as helping them develop critical thinking skills. The department is made up of a team of highly qualified teachers who are passionate about literature and language.
One of the main goals of the English Department is to help students develop strong reading comprehension skills. This involves teaching them how to analyze and interpret various types of texts, including novels, poetry, and non-fiction works. Our department also places a strong emphasis on helping students improve their writing skills, from grammar and punctuation to persuasive and creative writing.
In addition to these core skills, the English Department also focuses on helping students develop critical thinking and communication skills. Through class discussions, group projects, and individual assignments, students are encouraged to think deeply about issues and ideas presented in literature and to articulate their thoughts and opinions clearly and persuasively.
We also strive to foster a love of reading and an appreciation for literature. Teachers strive to make their classes engaging and relevant, selecting texts that resonate with students and exposing them to a wide range of authors and genres.
